First let me thank and congratulate all those who took the time to stand up and speak up about the discrimination happening at The Valley Club in Philadelphia. You should all be proud of yourselves!
-
According to Lebanon Daily News in Pennsylvania the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the club turning down the suburban Philadelphia camp to have a day of swimming at their facility because of their race majority (Hispanics and Blacks). This is happening because you spoke up, signed the online letters to the club and to the U.S. Department of Justice. You can make a difference, no it's not going to happen overnight but if you give up it will not happen at all!

We must all teach our children equality and respect for others regardless of how ignorant some may be. They must know that two wrongs do not make a right and the way to retaliate is by speaking up and taking it to a non-violent stance.

Awesome.
ReplyDeleteUp with justice!!
I just read about a school in Mississippi who had their first nonsegregated prom! In 2009!! People don't believe this stuff still happens..
This was a very sad situation. I'm glad that people spoke out against this and took a stand. I'm happy that the kids got a free trip to Disney.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy how many Americans are standing up for justice. Both for these children as well as the Harvard Professor.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm a bit freaked out by this. How can this happen? And I have 3 nephews and a niece who are mulatto. Where would they rate? Okay, this is really upsetting.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's your OCD comrade from SITS.
My children are hispanic and black (can it get any harder for them). I do my best to instill in them that they are just as deserving as the next person and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing to do is teach the children in your life better.
