Everyone has that one person in life that they've always looked up to, mine is my Mima (grandmother/abuela) who is now at the young age of 85. For as long as I can remember she has always inspired me that regardless of what challenges may come in life to keep faith and learn from them.

She has always been the "strong one" in our family and has overcome so much. I love Mima more than words are able to express and would do whatever I need to do to assure she knows just how much she is appreciated for all she has done for her family.
Mima with Valentine's Day flowers I sent her.

The unfortunate thing is that her health lately has taken a hard left turn and has resulted her to be in and out of hospitals and rehabilitation homes over these past few months. She has had diabetes for a long time and now due to non-movement being bed ridden at the hospital and rehab facilities, lately suffers from pain in her legs and is unable to stand or walk at the moment. It is so difficult for my father and I who are extremely close to Mima to see her in such discomfort.

Last month while in a rehab, Mima decided that she wants to move to Ohio with me so I can care for her. I am so happy and excited for the honor of pampering her the way she deserves. I moved from Florida 9 1/2 years ago due to some drama going on in life (will post about that another time). It was one of the hardest decisions I made because I wasn't able to see her as often as I wanted.

Anyhow, I have been setting up her room with all her belongings that my dad has sent via UPS and I'm leaving this coming Friday, September 4th to go to Miami to bring her back with me on Sunday. Great, right! Well, the only thing is she may not be healthy enough to fly just yet so our return travel plans may be pushed back. I am still going to Miami regardless, I wouldn't pass up seeing her.

I want you all to think about this:

If you love someone and cherish them please let them know as often as possible. One lifetime may seem long but seriously it's not and it goes by quickly. If you have an elderly family member or good friend in the hospital/rehabilitation facility call them or stop by just for a little while. It's so unfair that many of them never have a visitor or calls from their "loved ones". Stop and grab some flowers or have the kids make them a picture to hang on their board. It will brighten their day and love heals more than any medicine can, in it's own way of course. Time isn't going to sit still for anyone and before you know it they won't be here.
